NWA Fashion Week Wrap Up
the b-regenerous collection
In the Spring of 2018 our CEO, Ben Clark, commissioned Alyssa Bird to create a one-of-a-kind piece of art for his office. This piece would be made up of many intricately bound test print t-shirts. You might not know, but every shirt that we print here is tested often many times to get every line, color, and placement to match the artwork proof. During this process we’re left with shirts that have variations of the same print in many locations all over the shirt, maybe even the inside and outside. Although they come out looking fun, we aren’t able to use these shirts for anything more than testers moving forward.
Fast forward let’s say a year later to spring of this year, a collection was born! The “B-Regenerous” collection culminated into 17 unique looks that made their way onto the catwalk of the 2019 NWA Fashion Week and even into Alyssa’s Regenerous Designs jewelry pieces.
Now let’s recount how it all came to be! For the last 10 years we’ve been investing our time and resources in continuing to lessen B-Unlimited's impact on the environment. It’s written in our organizational values, “Our planet was here long before us and will be here long after. We choose to invest our time & efforts effectively for our future and yours.”
What this means for us is choosing to use water-based inks even though it’s much harder to work with, its taken us substantially longer, and cost more than that of an operation that uses plastisol inks. The waste that comes from water-based inks is much better for both the machine operators and the environment, so we knew we had to pursue this method of printing if we really wanted to live out our professional convictions.
Regenerous Designs focuses on handmade accessories, made by up-cycling fabric and other resources that would have otherwise been thrown away! So here we are, B-Unlimited choosing to focus on leaving as minimal of a footprint as we can on this Earth, partnering with a company who uses what is often seen as a waste in the fashion industry to be further used and made into a completely new piece. I mean, it just seems too perfect right?
Alyssa was the sole designer of every piece and let us just say… SHE KILLED IT! Everything came out so amazing and so much more than we could’ve ever imagined. Between our strategy meetings she’d stop by, pick up another box of test print tees, and then head out to work her magic. She said it best in her blog, “Creating this collection was definitely a “Teamwork Makes The Dream Work” kind of situation.”
That’s one of our more well-known mantras here in the office, because we simply can’t accomplish what happens here without the help of every single beautiful person on our team.
The collaboration came to its final name by combining our business names, B-Unlimited & Regenerous Designs. It’s not quite that simple though! If we are to regenerate all of our resources, including what many deem as waste they then are unlimited. B-Regenerous is built on the foundation of innovation, resourcefulness, and collaboration.
The Crew worth every shout out!

How to be the Best T-shirt Chair : A Guide
As the Spring semester is in full swing there are so many socials, philanthropies, and recruitment events to prepare apparel for! On top of your already crazy busy schedule there’s no doubt it’s all becoming overwhelming already. At this point in the semester, you might have some last-minute designs you want to squeeze in before everyone leaves for the summer or you already may be dreaming about the hits you’re going to make for the fall. Whether you’re in the now or planning ahead here are five things you need to know about what is currently trending in the T-Shirt world:
Custom-made illustrations. If you haven’t noticed, we’re starting to see this theme become prevalent in many companies. We have top notch artists here who will gladly turn your sketch, or even your idea of a sketch, into a reality.
Bold colors are in.The bolder, the better. Make a statement with a shirt color, or with the graphic on a shirt. Whether the actual shirt is a bold color, or the design pops off the canvas, bold colors are catching eyes this year.
Asymmetry is out of place and in style.Shift things up! Whether it is with the font and words or the design all together, not all things have to be perfectly symmetrical.
BIG FONTS. Big fonts get the point across in a creative way. With new typography and fonts developing every day, use your words!
Minimalism. It’s here, it’s simple, but makes a big statement. More and more we’re seeing designs get smaller, and simpler. Even though the design is minimal, it’s doing the maximum.
Don’t just take it from us! Check out how the Phi Delta Theta t-shirt chair at the University of Arkansas stepped up the design game in a whole new way.
What’s up, my name is Ken Shew and I’m the T-Shirt Chair for Phi Delta Theta at the University of Arkansas. Whenever it’s time for one of our functions or events, I usually start by just looking online for things related to the theme if I don’t already have an idea in mind. I’m not sure if everyone else is the same way… but I’m pretty picky on what I want on shirts, even down to the font. Usually I try to provide the art team with fonts I like, a sketch of what I want the graphic to look like, or some example photos I find online to draw inspiration from. It blows my mind every time how easy B-Unlimited makes it, and how good their artwork is.
One example was our Christmas shirt. I sketched out generally what I wanted… Santa with crossed arms wearing a Phi Delt Christmas sweater… and sent it to B-Unlimited for them to make a proof. The final product ended up being even better than what I pictured, but still being generally what I sketched.
Not everyone has drawing capabilities, so while it is so awesome to see a sketch turn into a graphic there are definitley other ways to do it. I think the best approach to creating a t-shirt is find some graphics you like that have to do with the topic. Once you find some things you like, send B-Unlimited all of them. That way the artist can pull from all of them and make a super cool shirt instead of just asking them to copy one design.
For me, it’s important to do shirts unlike any we’ve previously done, and stay relevant to what people want to see. It’s hard to find a balance between too trendy, and classic, but sometimes if you release something you may be surprised how well it sells. One example is when we did tan hoodies, and white hoodies. From what I have seen, a fraternity does a gray crewneck every year with a pretty generic design, so it was somewhat risky to change it up on everyone.
Although these were really minimalistic and only had small font on them, they were some of our best sellers! We had to put the flag hoodies back up because more people wanted them once they were out. That being said, don’t be afraid to release something that you’re afraid people may not want because you never know, and there’s no harm in trying something new!

Conference in California? Yes Please!
Let's be honest, winter in Fayetteville be pretty cold and dreary so it's not like we needed much of an excuse to hit up the west coast, but this just happened to work out for us!
Nine members of our team headed out to sunny California in January to attend the annual Imprinted Sportswear Show (ISS) in Long Beach. It’s kind of like the World Fair of the garment printing industry...picture an indoor convention center the size of several football fields filled with all of the latest innovations in equipment, ink, and apparel. Oh, and people - lots and lots of people from around the globe were also there. We get it, probably sounds kind of nerdy of us to geek out about apparel and inks, but we're always trying to stay on top of apparel trends and continuing our printing expertise so that you guys know you're getting nothing short of the best.
We attend this event every year to explore new industry ideas and meet with our partners and vendors. It’s how we stay up-to-date on the latest and greatest products, processes, and presses that help us design and deliver awesome apparel to you. This year, we invested in another 12-head press, explored new apparel partnership opportunities, and set up some strategic meetings to start planning our 2019 Origins Academy. (Haven’t heard of Origins? Check it out HERE!)
We also managed to have a pretty good time...but we always to do that! Evidence can be found in the photos below.
AXO Print Party 2019
We've officially kicked off this year's print parties! What started as simply a dream for us, that is, getting to host our community in our HQ turned into a reality over the past couple of years. During the remodel of our space we kept hosting in mind, and it has turned out to be the absolute best!
Each school semester we are fortunate enough to host several sororities from the University of Arkansas to print their own tees! Usually these are for sisterhood events or new members. Last night we hosted U of A AXO - they're always so fun to have in the place we call home! Check out some photos from our event HERE.
Feel free to use any of the photos, but please tag @bunlimited.

Our Guide to Thriving as T-Shirt Chair
One of the most fun and rewarding positions in your chapter is being the t-shirt chairman. Take it from me, I not only work for B-Unlimited but I’m also a t-shirt chair for my sorority! Making shirts for your sorority or fraternity means seeing your designs worn by people all over campus – I mean, let’s be honest, that’s pretty sweet! As you are gearing up for the rest of the semester use these tips and tricks to keep you on top of your game:
First off, contact B-Unlimited to design shirts for your chapter. Email orders@b-unlimited.com to get started!
Send a survey to your chapter asking what kind of shirts and designs your members like. Ask for their preference on t-shirt brands, kinds of sweatshirts, and shirt colors too!
Start the semester off with two or three fun PR shirts and begin planning buttons and stickers for football game days. (New members LOVE anything with their new letters on it – you remember those days!)
Make t-shirts for initiation, sisterhood events, philanthropy dinners, homecoming, and events in between as you want. Stay organized by making a list of events early in the semester and know which events need shirts.
For dad’s day events, make a t-shirt for girls, a polo for dads, and a baseball cap or cups with the football schedule! Trust me, your dad might pretend he doesn’t want to wear your letters, but he’s all about it.
Put shirts online before functions, philanthropy dinners, and other events and keep them up a week after to allow people to continue buying after the function or event.
As fall rolls around design PR long sleeve henley’s, sweatshirts, and long sleeve t-shirts that are sure to be a hit with your chapter.
Tell your chapter the deadlines to order shirts and when t-shirt pass outs will happen. At B-Unlimited we’ll even send you text updates to remind you about when the shirt is coming offline. Just ask your account manager how to sign up!
Keep a folder on your computer of designs you like and look for inspiration around you! Design shirts with significant things relevant to your chapter and university.
Look at other shirts and think of things you would change and do it differently. Reference B-Unlimited’s Pinterest account and B-Unlimited artwork gallery on our website for shirt designs! It’s all about inpso, and we are not short of that around here. Seriously, drop us a line at orders@b-unlimited.com. We’d love to help you get started!
As t-shirt chairman, I have found my chapter is happy with designs that are a mix of fresh new ideas as well as sometimes bringing back the classics. Talk with your friends and ask what people are liking and want to see!

Water-Base vs. Plastisol Printing at B-Unlimited
Many people don’t know, but there is more than one type of screen printing method! If you’re a details person, you should totally read below about why we try to use discharge water-base over plastisol when we print your shirts. If you’re more of a visual person scroll down to watch a video we put together showing how printing with water-base ink can be the best decision for you and your organization.
What is plastisol?
If you’ve ever worn a printed T-shirt when you’re running or working out and the big print on your shirt sticks to you like a back-sweat magnet, chances are, that is a shirt printed with plastisol ink.
The way plastisol ink is printed, it is laid down on the top of the garment almost like icing on a cake. You can definitely feel that it’s there and sometimes so much so that it feels similar to that of sand paper because it’s such a thick ink. After many washes this type of print can crack and even end up peeling off of the shirt.
A positive trait of plastisol ink though, is it can print on anything & can give you more accurate color results. At B-Unlimited we print with plastisol when absolutely necessary. An example of this would be if a company contacted us to print a logo on their shirt and it was important that colors were a match for their branding!
What is discharge water-base?
This type of printing really depends on the material of the garment! It prints really bright and clean on 100% cotton garments. It can give fun and faded looks on tri blends and 50/50 garments, but unfortunately won’t print on polyester garments.
With discharge printing the ink is printed into the fabric and actually replaces the pigment in the fabric of the garment with the pigment of the ink, thus actually becoming a part of the shirt for as long as the life of the shirt. It’s actually pretty magical.
As this ink is laid into the shirt and cured through the dryer you won’t even feel that there’s a print on this garment. It’s just as soft as the original product the ink goes on and gets better with every wash.
So what does that mean for you?
We’ve got a short video at the bottom of our blog post here giving you an illustration on the breathability difference between plastisol and discharge water-base.
The plastisol holds in all water and moisture, but the water-based discharge print allows the water to flow through very easily. An example would to be to imagine yourself walking across campus on a hot day and feeling shirt sticking to you, and not having breathability – this would be a plastisol printed t-shirt.
At B-Unlimited we print with lots of different kinds of ink. But we specialize in soft, environmentally friendly water-based discharge ink. Ask your Account Manager for your next design to be printed with the softest ink we have and see the difference for yourself.
